In 2023, as the official European partner of China Craft Week (CCW), BAHC Advisory supported and co-organised the China International Handcraft Innovation Development Forum, with the theme of "Global Crafts in the Perspective of New Consumption". The forum invited a number of international experts and scholars to analyse and discuss the history of the development of handicrafts and how this factor affects the new consumption model.
BAHC invited Natalie Melton, the executive director of Crafts Council UK, to participate in a round-table dialogue, introducing the development history and current situation of the UK's handicraft industry.
BAHC is also honored to have Agathe Renault, the International Partnerships Development Project Manager of the Palace of Versailles, who joined in this conversation.
Ana Illueca, the artist and founder of ADN Cerámico, has also participated in the panel discussion.
Other special guests include Lorna Philpot (University of the Arts London), Kate Sedwell (University of the Arts London), Giorgio Motta (China-Italy Design Innovation Hub), Sara Biagiotti (Artex), Maria Elena Angeli (Artex), Tsuneyuki Matsuzawa (Japanese Crafts Co. Ltd), Zhong Wen (Made in Nature), and Zhang Lei, (Rong Design Library).
This dialogue has undoubtedly promoted in-depth exchanges between China and other countries and regions of the world's handicrafts and cultural industries, and has also laid a solid foundation for subsequent international co-operation.
